Class Descriptions
AKC STAR PUPPY - In classes aimed at earning the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy distinction, you’ll be able to get information on all your puppy-raising questions including house training, chewing, nipping and the most effective way to teach practical skills such as sit, down and come when called. STAR Puppy is a 6 weeks class and costs $165. (puppies 8 weeks to 6 months)
Manners/Obedience 1- This course is for those owners who would like to see improvements in their dog’s behavior (manners) even in distracting environments. This class focuses on building a solid recall as well as basic obedience skills such as sit, down, walk on a loose leash, wait at the door and go to place. This is the beginning level of obedience class and will teach you skills to make training at higher levels easier. This class costs $180 and includes a mat used for the go to place. (age 6 months and older unless they have attended STAR Puppy class)
Manners 2- Manners 2 is a continuation of our Manners Class and practices the skills learned in that class plus some new behaviors. We also begin teaching the importance of proper body mechanics and working around distractions. Prerequisite: Manners Class
Competition Skills - Competition Skills teaches the foundational behaviors needed for success in many Performance Sports venues including Competition Obedience, Rally Obedience as well as Fetch and Dock Diving. We concentrate on position changes, stay, walking and working in heel position and Finishes.
Outdoor Adventure - This class takes our dogs on field trips! We practice our polite manners in public and work towards completing the AKC Canine Good Citizen Test. Dogs must have a securely fitting collar or harness and a 6 foot leash. Owners must be able to handle their dogs!
Therapy Dog Prep– This class covers the things you will need to know to help you get started as a therapy dog team. Completing this class does not guarantee certification with any therapy dog agency. This is a 4 week class.
Rally Obedience-Rally is a competitive sport in which the dog and handler demonstrate working as a team. Several different obedience skills are used as the team travels through a designated course. Rally 1 covers skills needed to successfully navigate a Rally course beginning to follow signs. Rally 2 has more emphasis on complete courses with additional work on perfecting obedience skills.
Tricks- Tricks Class is a fun and rewarding class that will surely make your dog an entertainer! Learn the techniques to teach your dog almost any trick in a positive environment. Earn trick titles through AKC or Do More With Your Dog.
Out For A Walk - This class explores the tools and techniques to successfully and consistently take your dog on a loose leash walk. We practice these skills in a variety of ways including walks and games.
Classes unless otherwise noted run for 6 weeks.
